Clemens Martin Auer
Austrian Special Envoy for Health for the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection
Clemens Martin Auer is Austrian Special Envoy for Health for the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection. His focus is on international, multilateral and bilateral health policy issues, particularly through work with WHO (he is a nominated member of the WHO Executive Board), the European Union and the European Observatory. From 2003 to 2007 he was Head of Cabinet for Minister of Health Maria Rauch Kallat, and from 2005 to 2018 he was Director General for the Austrian health system (working on, for example, health-care planning, primary health-care reform, financing, quality and digitization) and international affairs. In this capacity he has worked on the majority of major health-care reform projects in Austria since 2003. Auer is also President of the European Health Forum Gastein and a member of the Advisory Board of the European Forum Alpbach.
