Professor i velferdsteknologi, Institutt for nevromedisin og bevegelsesvitenskap (INB), Fakultet for medisin og helsevitenskap (MH), NTNU/Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet.

Professor II ved Nasjonalt senter for e-helseforskning, Universitetssykehuset Nord-Norge.

Har en doktorgrad i Software Engineering fra Computing Science Department, University of Glasgow, Skottland, Storbritannia. Hans viktigste forskningsinteresser lå i velferdsteknologi. Har vært "Principal Investigator" (PI) i flere nasjonale og internasjonale forskningsprosjekter. Har mer enn 70 fagfellevurderte vitenskapelige publikasjoner, har vært en korrekturleser for flere vitenskapelige konferanser og tidsskrifter (Computer Journal, IEEE Journal, International Journal of Medical Informatics, International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications, Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare), var medredaktør av Journal of Telemedicine and Telecare og er en gjest redaktør av International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications. Han er medlem av IEEE SSIT (Society on Social Implications of Technology).
