What is right and wrong in digital remote care?
In order to contribute to a good/safe society, we must take the time to reflect on which values we prioritise. For example, the safety of a health technology must be weighed up against security and freedom.
How do we ensure ethically sound digital home monitoring?
Yes, it's legal. But is it wise?
Is this the way we want healthcare to go? Is this a technology that supports the goals we have for a good society?
In the work with digital home monitoring, the focus has long been on efficient and functional digital solutions, and less focus on the ethical aspects. How can we ensure that the solutions are ethically sound? Leonora and Trond will shed light on this in this presentation on digital ethics.
As an example of ethical work with digital home follow-up, they use the eHjerteRehab project, which is developing and testing a new rehabilitation solution for heart patients. Leonora leads the work package on ethics in the project and Trond is the project coordinator.
Leonora Bergsjø, PhD, is an associate professor at Østfold University College and the University of Agder/Centre for e-health. She researches digital ethics and ethical risk assessment of new technology. Bergsjø is involved in several interdisciplinary projects, including digital home follow-up.
Trond R. Pettersen, PhD, is a specialist nurse in cardiological nursing and postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Cardiology, Haukeland University Hospital and associate professor at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. He researches medication adherence in patients with coronary heart disease.
