Webinar: Clinical pharmacists as brokers in interprofessional medication reviews
What opportunities and challenges arise when clinical pharmacists participate in interprofessional medication reviews alongside doctors and nurses? This was the topic of the webinar on the 5th of September.
This webinar focused on the participation of clinical pharmacists in interprofessional medication reviews in hospitals. Based on observations and interviews in two Norwegian hospitals, the speaker described how pharmacists can act as brokers between professions, promote knowledge sharing and contribute to more holistic decisions about patient medication. At the same time, challenges related to professional boundaries, hierarchy, unclear roles and a lack of organisational facilitation were highlighted.
The webinar provides insight into both the opportunities and challenges that arise when new professions enter established work practices, and how facilitation can contribute to comprehensive patient care and better interprofessional collaboration.
