Op-ed: Europe Needs Better Governance of Digital Health
In an op-ed published by EHiN, Center Director Line Linstad and Senior Researcher Line Silsand of the Norwegian Centre for E-Health Research discuss the need for better governance of digital health in Europe.
They point out that the European Health Data Space (EHDS) can provide an important data foundation for treatment, research, and innovation, but that data alone is not enough. To make sound decisions about which digital health solutions should be adopted, systematic assessments of benefits, risks, and value are needed.
Here, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) can play a key role. A modernized and digitally adapted HTA framework can contribute to more knowledge-based priorities, better use of resources, and a more sustainable healthcare system.
