Webinar: Digital pathology and artificial intelligence – new opportunities in cancer diagnosis
Digital pathology opens up new ways of using artificial intelligence in medical diagnostics. In this webinar, we take a closer look at how AI can contribute to more efficient workflows and new types of analysis in cancer diagnostics.
The use of digital pathology is developing rapidly and is opening up new opportunities for the application of artificial intelligence in diagnostics and research. AI can both automate tasks that are already carried out today, such as the assessment of tissue samples in cancer diagnostics, and enable new analyses that were previously not possible.
In this webinar, we take a closer look at how AI can be used to analyse digital tissue images and develop algorithms capable of predicting disease progression in cancer patients. Such models can, for example, help distinguish between patients at high and low risk of disease progression, thereby providing important information for treatment decisions.
We also discuss how new technologies and AI tools should be evaluated before they are put into clinical use, as well as the importance of robust AI models. Randomised trials can provide answers as to whether the technology actually yields better results, but at the same time, developments in AI are happening very rapidly, which raises new questions about how best to assess these methods.
We also briefly present the ENDPATH research project – End-to-End Pathology – which is developing a new type of imaging system for digital pathology tailored to artificial intelligence, with the aim of providing more detailed data and more accurate AI models.
