Webinar: How can we improve digital health literacy within the healthcare system?
Digital health literacy is an increasingly important prerequisite for participation in a digitalised healthcare system. In this webinar, we take a closer look at what digital health literacy entails, how it can be improved, and what responsibilities healthcare organisations have in facilitating inclusion and participation.
This webinar examines digital health literacy from the perspectives of citizens, healthcare professionals and organisations. It explores digital health literacy as a core competence in an increasingly digitalised healthcare system. The webinar introduces key concepts and definitions, presents various approaches to assessing digital health literacy and emphasises the need to look beyond a narrow focus on technical skills.
Drawing on experiences from the Horizon Europe project IDEAHL, the presentation highlights European strategies aimed at strengthening citizens’ opportunities for participation, inclusion and equality. It also addresses organisational digital health literacy and emphasises the responsibility of health organisations to facilitate citizens’ participation in and use of digital health solutions.
This webinar presents the results of collaborative workshops involving healthcare professionals and relatives of people with chronic illnesses. The workshops identify key support needs and highlight the importance of leadership, screening practices, documentation, continuous professional development and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The webinar concludes with a number of specific key messages that can be put into practice.
