Webinar: Secure sharing of health data – lessons learned from the EU project CRANE
How can the secure sharing of health data lead to greater independence and smarter healthcare services? In this webinar, you can gain an insight into the CRANE project – an innovative initiative focusing on data sharing, consent and new technology.
This webinar presents CRANE – a five-year European project that is developing a platform and infrastructure for the secure sharing of data, including health data. With the citizen at the heart of the project, it enables citizens to access and control their own data, and to decide for themselves who should have access to it.
Through a digital consent model, CRANE aims to enable the simple and secure sharing of data across services and levels. Rather than copying data, access is granted on the basis of digitally granular consent, an approach that strengthens privacy and facilitates better collaboration.
The project has tested solutions in Sweden and Spain, and piloted prototypes in two Norwegian municipalities. During the pilot schemes, test users generated data from devices such as smartwatches, blood pressure monitors and oxygen saturation monitors, and shared digital access with ‘relatives’ and ‘healthcare services’.
The project also facilitates the secondary use of data, for example for research and analysis. It will also be possible to develop new solutions where artificial intelligence provides new and useful insights, to better enable citizens to look after their own health.
CRANE is a pre-commercial procurement initiative aimed at developing innovative, national solutions.
