Want more students to complete education

Many students never complete their university education.

In France, 60 percent of all students will drop out of university without a valid diploma due to, among others, lack of motivation, failing or change of plans.

France is now taking action to improve the success rate of students in first university cycle. The French National Research Agency launched a call for projects seeking to diversify the education in their universities.

They invited an international jury to evaluate the 48 project applications. The Norwegian Centre for E-health Research was honoured to be a part of this jury.

The idea is to offer students a range of differentiated bachelor degrees, progressive specializations in flexible and individualized courses, a diversification of the modes of professionalization and innovative pedagogical approaches. These may involve use of digital technology, new content or new organization models.

The international jury proposed to the French Minister of Research, Innovation and Higher Education, Ms Frédérique Vidal, the financing of 21 projects. Of these, the ministry decided to finance the first 12, respecting the order of the jury.
