New director at the Norwegian centre for e-health research

He has research algorithm based medical technologies. Now he will help the authorities make good million investments in Health-ICT. Stein Olav Skrøvseth (38) is employed as director for the Norwegian centre for e-health research.

- I am honored over the confidence and humility the Norwegian centre for e-health research has received. We will help to secure a knowledge-based development of the e-health field for the years to come. Together with the Directorate for e-health we will help the authorities find the answer on what is happening here right here and now. Through our research we will look into the sphere of what awaits the sector in the future, Stein Olav Skrøvseth says.

An important national role

-Digitization is important, IT is important, health is important and the Norwegian centre for e-health research is important. We want the centre to be successful in it's national role and achieve national legitimacy, Bjørn Astad says, general director in Health- and care department.

- Both the ministry and the board have full confidence that we have made a good decision with Stein Olav Skrøvsteth as director. He faces challenging but exciting tasks. There are still adjustments to make before the centre is rigged for the national mission, Bjørn Engum says gratulating Skrøvseth with the confidence he has received and looks forward to collaborate.

Skrøvseth takes the role as director 18. April 2016.

Bio

Stein Olav Skrøvseth is a civil engineer with a Ph.D. in physics from Norway's Technical-Science University (NTNU). After the post doctoral at the University of Sydney in 2009 he began as a researched at the Norwegian centre for integrated care and telemedicine, University hospital in Northern Norway (UNN). Here he has contributed with multiple projects in data analysis, statistics, machine learning and medical image analysis. He has had leader positions in several periods. In 2013-2014 he was a trainee as a researched at IBM Thomas J Watson Research Center in New York.
