- We are impressed by the level of professionalism that these young innovators are showing us, says Eli Kristiansen, event manager ETC.

- We received around 15 applications to this international contest that is a part of the European Telemedicine Conference. It was difficult to choose only six projects to the finale, and I believe the jury members had a very hard time deciding who should win.

Winner of the Start-ups category

The young man behind the BuddyCare surgery care coordination platform has a goal to help the hospitals and surgery centres to improve the quality of surgical care.

- BuddyCare is a care coordination and patient engagement platform that automates and monitors patients’ surgery preparation and recovery procedures, explains CEO, Founder Jussi Määttä. BuddyCare is codeveloped with two major children’s hospitals in the US.

Winner of the Young Innovators category

The smartwatch is a relatively new player in the area of wearable technology. However, progress of user adoption of this technology is promising for the future. Especially for people with chronic diseases.

- A chronic disease can be easily managed with wearable technologies, says Miroslav Muzny who has developed a smartwatch companion application to the Diabetes Diary app in close cooperation with the m-health research team at the Norwegian Centre for E-health Research.
