General specificity - Implementing technology in digital remote care

Getting started with digital home monitoring technologies can be very complex, but we want to make it happen. That's where a theoretical framework for implementation can help.

Implementing technology in digital remote care
Kari Dyb gives a sosiological view of implementing health technologies.

What is most important for you as a municipality?

'Try not to have too high expectations. Try some reality orientation. Different frameworks can help you. There's no one-size-fits-all, but a framework can point out where the challenges might be. The challenges are not necessarily at the state or technology level - they are at another level. It's important to anchor the project in the organisation and establish cooperation,’ says Kari Dyb.

Adopting a new technology in healthcare is often a question of ‘to use or not to use?’ The question isn't really that simple after all.

Sociologist Kari Dyb presents NASSS, a theoretical framework for understanding the implementation of technologies, with examples from digital home care in Norway. Every situation is different, but they also have a lot in common. Whether you work in a municipality or a hospital, you can use NASSS to plan, follow up and evaluate an implementation.
