Linda Nilsen Augland shares Larvik municipality's experiences with digital remote care.

"Try to avoid diagnoses"

Linda Nilsen Augland recommends that municipalities think broadly when it comes to digital home follow-up. ‘Think about needs and goals rather than diagnosis. Then you will get many more relevant patients,’ she continues.

Furthermore, she encourages all municipalities to apply for dissemination funds so that digital home follow-up can be offered to everyone, regardless of where they live.

More information

Together with five other municipalities, Larvik Municipality was an early adopter of digital home follow-up. The project is now being introduced as a service. Project manager Linda Nilsen Augland believes that one of the success criteria for the service is that both staff and patients are willing to change and mentally prepared for innovation. "Instead of focusing on the diagnosis, the focus is shifted to the patient's needs. The patient is asked - what is important to you? The answer may be, for example, to be able to travel to the cabin. A personalised, digital self-treatment plan is then drawn up together with healthcare professionals. Augland describes the processes that lead to the patient achieving their goal in this webinar.
