Exploring electronic phenotyping for clinical practice in Norwegian settings

Report Abstract

Electronic phenotyping algorithms analyze big sets of patient data to find hidden patterns and characteristics for a condition in a group of similar patients or predict risks for developing this condition. Electronic phenotyping applies structured and unstructured EHR data for cohort identification, public health and safety surveillance, healthcare administrative purposes, clinical research, and precision medicine. This report provides knowledge on electronic phenotyping, including methods for its development, challenges for its exploitation in Norwegian clinical settings, and describes a phenotyping algorithm for multimorbid patients built in the project.
