Hannah Marston

Dr Hannah R. Marston is the lead author of the recently published book: ‘Transgenerational Technology and Interactions for the 21st Century’ she has published over 50 journal papers, 10 book chapters and has had written evidence published by the UK Government COVID-19 Committees, and more recently in the Nuffield Council on Bioethics report ‘The future of ageing: ethical considerations for research and innovation’. Hannah is a transdisciplinary scholar, intersecting across technology, e-Health, user experience, health, wellbeing, and videogames. Hannah is currently writing papers from her COVID-19 projects, the first an international consortium exploring technology, wellbeing, digital literacy of people across Europe, Asia, Middle East, and North America; her second project investigated the use of dating apps by UK users to bridge social connections during the 1st and 2nd lockdowns. Hannah completed her PhD in 2010 from Teesside University and her thesis: Wii Like To Play Too: Computer Gaming Habits of Older Adults, was one of the first pieces of empirical investigations intersecting gerontology and virtual reality. Previously, Hannah conducted a post-doctoral position at the University of Waterloo in Canada and as a research scientist at the German Sport University Cologne, on the EU funded project – iStoppFalls.
