Inger Torhild Gram

Bio

Inger Torhild Gram is a medical doctor, professor of Preventive Medicine and a member of the Department for Personal E-health (20%) research group. She has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, 36 as a first- and 23 as last author. At NSE, Gram focuses her research on changes in lifestyle and preventing deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCD)s utilizing E-health as a measure in Preventive Medicine and in Public Health. Gram is a member of the WARIFA consortium. She has researched methods and prediction of smoking cessation based on a Randomized Controlled Trial. Gram has disseminated research results world-wide to the scientific community through talks at international conferences, press conferences, scientific publications and to the public in printed and digital media. Gram also works with the relationship between smoking and cancer, premature deaths, and the benefits of quitting smoking. Gram has worked with tobacco prevention and smoke-free policies since the 1990’s, locally at UiT, UNN, Tromsø Municipality and nationally, as a member of the National Council for Tobacco Prevention. Gram has spent four years on the Scientific Council of IARC, (the cancer research agency of the World Health Organization (WHO). Gram has a full-time position as a professor at the Department of Community Medicine at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. She currently teaches in five of the six years professional Program in Medicine.
