Ciprian-Virgil Gerstenberger is a consultant for the department of Health Analytics and has worked at the Norwegian Centre for E-health Research since May 2019. He has various tasks in the PraksisNett project: backend and frontend programming, data extraction from EHR systems, data quality check and analysis.
With a computational linguistic background, he has experience in collecting, preprocessing, analysis and annotation of natural language at all levels (tokenizing, part-of-speech tagging, chunking, parsing, semantic analysis, text analysis, etc.). He worked with both common and special languages.
During various projects, he dealt with a vast range of languages (Romance, Germanic, Finno-Ugric), with a wide variety of language tools and analysis formalisms. Some of his many interests are semantic interoperability of e-health systems, terminologies, and medical language. Since he joined the E-health Research Centre, he attended different courses offered by HL7, especially on FHIR. In May 2021, he became officially certified for FHIR v4 by HL7.
Ciprian has a diploma as a linguist and computational linguist from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and has worked both in Germany and Norway in different national and international language technology projects.
