This third session in our Open Day series is called Social media and health.

In recent years, researchers and health professionals are exploring how social media such as Instagram, Twitter or Facebook can be used to exchange knowledge and nudge people towards a healthier lifestyle.

There can be many reasons why we need behavioral change. Examples are the benefits of a healthy diet and regular exercise, or the importance of increasing the knowledge about our own conditions. People also seek information on social media to learn how to manage health conditions.

As ill-health, disability and death from both communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are on the rise, social media interventions can be a smart and effective way to connect and share knowledge.
