Finnish hospital pharmacists' experiences with electronic medication management system
How has the new electronic health record system at Helsinki University Hospital affected medication management and the role of their pharmacists? The pharmacists think that the changes have been worth the effort.

As pharmacists, our favorite part of Apotti [1] is that we can now do closed-loop medication management. The most important lesson we learned was that the implementation process was more complicated than just installing a new system. The toughest and most time-consuming change was establishing new workflows for health personnel.
Medication safety officers Lotta Schepel and Carita Linden-Lahti tell us about lessons learned at Helsinki University Hospital.
[1] Apotti is the Finnish adaptation of EPIC. Helseplattformen, which is currently being implemented in Central Norway, is also an EPIC based system.
