Forskningsområdene hans har fokus på robust og sikker kunstig intelligens ved hjelp av maskinlæring og kontrollteorier. Spesifikt har forskningen som mål å skape intelligente kontrollere og støttesystemer for beslutning som kan brukes innen helseomsorg, for eksempel kunstig bukspyttkjertel for pasienter med diabetes type 1 og et støttesystem for kliniske beslutninger for pasienter med multimorbiditet.
